Lip Flip vs. Lip Filler

Okay this is a more *touchy* subject for some and for me I always say to each their own. I believe that you should do whatever you want to make you feel better and to feel good. For some, that’s doing injectables, and for some it’s not.

For me personally, I’m 22 years old and well aware that I don’t need botox – yet. I don’t want it right now and my goal is to use the best skincare for as long as I can to hopefully not need botox for a long time.

However, let’s be real. When we get to wrinkle world, I’m sure I will hop on the botox train. But! There are soooo many other things that come in the world of injectables, like filler! Again, to each their own. I have so many friends who have done lip filler and look amazing, but again, I am not there yet.

I’ve always really liked my lips. I feel like I’ve always had a pretty full bottom lip and a decent top lip. My only thing I’ve ever really wanted to do is maybe add a little volume to my top lip. So, I went to a consult for lip filler and this is where I learned all about the lip flip.

Lip filler is of course a more long-term game, a big commitment and is usually pretty pricey. Filler is also usually juvederm or restylane kysse. Yes, they’re dissolvable if you feel like you just need it gone, but chances of going back to your exact original shape are kinda slim.

So! This is why I was so excited to be introduced to the lip flip! The lip flip has NO filler. It’s botox, and it does not go into your lips directly. It goes into the very top portion above your lips, and just freezes the muscles up – giving the illusion of a “fuller” top lip, when really it’s just been pushed out a bit into more of a pout.

I LOVE the lip flip. It did exactly what I was looking for in terms of filling my top lip and it is the quickest and easiest thing ever. It is literally a five to ten minute appointment with zero numbing, just six units (so six pokes), and zero downtime. AND the best part, it is extremely cheaper than filler. For filler, I have been quoted anywhere between $250-500 before, and the lip flip that I did was $60. Now each med spa will of course differ so make sure to do your research or do a consult, but this was amazing.

I feel like my lip looks SO much better when doing glam and it always just looks a little fuller now – I love! Mine usually lasts about 4-5 months and then I’ll just get it done again. I love that I don’t have to worry about it being such a huge investment, or such a huge commitment. It’s subtle enough to where people aren’t like omg did you get your lips done?! But it’s also just enough where I’ve def had people notice in a good way!

If you’re someone who has been thinking about doing filler but are a little hesitant with what it might look like, start with a lip flip to get an idea!
